About Me And My Love For The Oregon Coast

Me at the Oregon coastMy family took many trips to the Oregon Coast where I fell in love with the gorgeous surroundings and all the fun things I could do as a kid.

My two favorite places to eat along the coastline were Lil’ Sambo's and Pixie Kitchen. The Pixie Kitchen had good food, animated scenes of pixies, and a small amusement park. Alas, it was torn down a while back, but it is always standing in my memories.

When I wasn't dancing around in the surf, chasing seagulls and keeping the cool water from rushing over my toes, I was sitting on a rock, staring out at the amazing creation before me. Even as a child, I appreciated the beauty of the beaches.

The beach means a lot to me. It was one place that brought my family together. My love for the Oregon Coast existed then and continues in me today.

When it's time to tell life that I want off for a while, I head off to the Oregon Coast. It doesn't matter what part really (although, there is special place in my heart for Cannon Beach), just as long as I'm able to soak in the peace and quiet. Sometimes you just need to escape. I'm sure you know the feeling.

When I am at the Oregon Coast, I am in my own little piece of heaven. I couldn’t imagine wanting to be anywhere else.

What Else Do I Do?

I am a certified Social Media Marketing Specialist and a freelance Virtual Assistant, helping clients market themselves online, using Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, MySpace, YouTube videos, blogging and other social media goodies. I also write for The Portlander.com, my main focus being the Extreme Sports of Portland which include the Rose City Rollers and DOA Pro Wrestling. It's all great fun!

Why did I decide to build a website about the Oregon Coast?

Let me explain the two-fold reasons why I decided to build a web site about the Oregon Coast. First, I love the Oregon Coast and I thought that a travel web site to share that love would be a perfect solution. I really wanted to share that love with other people and let them know what a terrific place it is.

Secondly, and more importantly, the company I had worked for for 8.5 years decided to "save some money" and laid me off, as a way of down-sizing. I was floored! I had given them my best and they threw me away like an old shoe.

Since there isn't any stability in the economy right now or in a 9-to-5 job, for that matter, I decided it was time to take things into my own hands. I felt that I could no longer trust any sort of outside source to keep me going. I had to do it myself. I had to become my own boss.

The question was: where did I start?

I found exactly what I was needing....!

After sorting through all the typical Get Rich Quick garbage on the Internet (as you may know, there is a ton of it out there!), I came across a great web host called Site Build It. After doing some pretty extensive research on it to see if I was really looking at the "real deal," I took a chance and signed up.

Reading the story of a guy named Elad was a huge part in why I jumped on board the Site Build It train.

SBI was created with beginners in mind; for people that have never built a web site in their life and don't know a lick of HTML code. Although it caters to those beginners, I found it to be applicable to anyone of any experience level.

Bottom line: it is fun, easy and, when I began to see people coming to my Oregon coast site, interested in what I knew and had to say, I was absolutely thrilled! Then the money started showing up....thrilled was an understatement! The thought of being able to quit my full-time job eventually makes me as giddy as a school girl! hahaha! ;)

*UPDATE* As of July 2008, I have, in fact, quit my full-time job!

How Does Romantic Oregon Coast Vacations Support Itself?

In a nutshell, through affiliate relationships with individuals and other businesses. You may see links that direct you to another web site or service or product that I feel would benefit you, my guest, in some way. Often times, I am an affiliate of theirs, meaning that, by going through that link, signing up for the service, renting a room, or buying the product(s), I get a commission from from them and you, my friends, get the thanks (my wife likes her rent paid! hehe).

Any compensation does not influence the information in this site. I'm as honest as the day is long...it's just the way I roll. ;)  I always give my truthful opinions, findings, beliefs, or experiences, which is what keeps Romantic Oregon Coast Vacations so much fun for me. It's just icing on the cake when that information provides me some income along with giving you what you want or need. That chunk of change is simply what keeps the lights on. ;)

On the other hand, "Ads by Google" are not selected by me, so if you see a Google ad and a web page about the same product or service, it is a coincidence. Just FYI.

Please do support my sponsors and recommendations. This site takes time and effort to deliver original content, free, to you. Supporting my sponsors is a WIN-WIN-WIN for you, me, and them. Thank you very much.

 SBI Video Tour!

So, what's been happening so far....

It's been an awesome ride so far and I'm very happy with my web site's continued growth. To date, I'm receiving anywhere from 900-1200 guests each day. To see the kind of results that my Site Build It web site is generating has blown me away!

I have friends that I've told about Site Build It and others that I've made friends with that are enjoying the same kind of success and then some. I know I'm on the right track, because I've not only seen the proof, but am experiencing the results, first hand. Not only that, but the joy of building a web site that people really enjoying visiting has brought a sense of accomplishment back into my life. It’s something I sorely needed.

If you'd like, you can check out my video blogs at http://www.youtube.com/Chawman. I want you to know that I'm a real person like you who is now enjoying what I do...all thanks to my web sites (I have another that I started in August of 2008 called Uniquely Portland Oregon).

You can also follow me on Twitter

Anyhow, enjoy your stay here and thanks for coming! See you at the beach! ;)

Regards,

Tony Thomas
