Pixie Kitchen and West Moved to East

by Pam Crumb (Basaraba)
(Carlisle, PA 17015)

Yes, as many of us now in their 50's remember so fondly, Pixie Kitchen was a MUST as a child.

I remember the mirrors at the reception area - the funny mirrors that made you look fat or really tall. The motorized pixies at the back of the restaurant were such an original treat to any kid.

It's truly a shame that no one, including myself had the foresight to preserve such a slice of Americana. It's gone now and even a kid expert as myself and friends who visited the restaurant frequently in the 60s, can't even pick it out now when driving by.

I was recently visiting the Oregon Coast, after living in the East Coast for 22 years, and drove thru Lincoln City and couldn't pick out the site. Maybe it was torn down and rebuilt upon or so remodeled it was unrecognizable.

Does anyone remember that Lincoln City was also known as Ocean Lake? How about that?

A friend of mine was thoughtful enough to send me an original ceramic Pixie - the stamp on the bottom reads "Ocean Lake." Thanks for the opportunity to reminesce.

A fellow Pixie Kitchen fan.....

The Ceramic Pixie from Pixie Kitchen...
by: Gaylene Grossen

A friend of mine has one like yours and I'm so jealous! If only I'd been into true collectibles as a child... I always went for the toys and candy!

Your fellow Pixie

It was great sharing Clam Chowder with you, all those years ago....The little red car is still out there somewhere-maybe with the bullheads.

Still on the West coast-too far from you.
