This house is gorgeous!!

The House in the Trees at Turk's Lodgings has a huge gas fireplace, a jacuzzi tub and adjoining shower in a big master suite. Floor to ceiling windows with a beautiful ocean view. Very secluded.

We had the best vacation ever here!!

Romance & Peace
by: Julie Gauthier

I have been to Turks House & Cottage several times.

It is my favorite place to get away. The house is amazing, and the view is priceless. What more could anyone ask for then the ocean in front, and the mountains in your backyard.

I rate this magical place the highest and tell everyone to visit this paradise.

Thanks Turks, you made me believe there is still a place to go to feel romance and peace.

Cabin at Turks Lodgings: Overpriced, Unclean, and Damp
by: Kate, Vacations with more room.

I booked the Cabin at Turks Lodgings (the second largest house, a suite at the top of the cabin near the main house) for a special getaway with my partner in summer 2010. I couldn't find any reviews on Tripadvisor, but I thought it had probably just started up. The price range suggested somewhere very nice and the write-ups on their site sounded great.

This was my biggest mistake of our vacation. Our first feeling of concern was when we turned in to the driveway off the highway - there was moss growing over the sign to the lodgings and the road was covered in leaves and twigs, like no one had driven up it (or cleared it off) for years. The cabin itself was cold and damp, as was all the firewood left outside (no kindling) so we spent the weekend in many extra layers of clothes. I even wore them to bed.

The stove was not working when we arrived and there as a note apologising from the caretaker, together with a bottle of sparkling wine, which was nice. But no one came to fix it! We ate cereal and fry-ups instead of the food we brought.

There are many stains on the carpet and on the couches, the toaster had grunge across the top of it, the windows were dirty, the decks needed sweeping, and the toilet brush was filthy. There were also many little dog hairs all over - including on the pillows on the bed.

On our last day we met the nice lady from Cannon beach who comes to change the sheets and I told her about the kindling and she said I should have called her and she would have come right round.

This was nice, but for the price they are charing - the equivalent or more to the hotels in the town centre (where we stayed on our way back up the coast) this place should have been in much much better condition.

I wrote to the owners (in response to an email asking how our stay was) and told them all of the above and never heard anything from them, which I thought was really shabby.

This place would be a great place to stay if you had lots of kids and you just wanted a cabin-type place where they could run around without worrying about them. (It should be marketed to them and not for "romantic getaways") If you are not really a clean person to start with, it might not bother you. But if you are, or if you only spend money like this for a treat, leave this place to the families and go somewhere else.

(It is totally secluded in the woods, just above the highway - which you can hear very well all day.) There is no beach access - you have to get back in your car and drive down the highway to get there.
