| Waldport, Oregon is a terrific place for a nice, quiet vacation. With a population of just over 2000 locals, the city is friendly and the beaches are pristine and quiet. You can drive over to the Governor Patterson Memorial State Park and enjoy a picnic, a walk with your better half or even set up camp for the night. You can pick up park permits at the Interpretive Center.
The Port of Alsea is a large and beautiful estuary that is a hotbed of recreational activity. From kayaking to windsurfing to catching Dungeness crab to angling for spectacular Chinook Salmon, it really is a place that the whole family can enjoy. Small shops and cozy restaurants nearby provide all you'll need for a well-rounded day of activity. Travel about 25 miles south and you'll end up at the famous Sea Lion Caves. You can take an elevator that descends 208 feet below and drops you off in one of the largest sea caves in the world, a 12-story building high and a football field long, where the massive sea lions stretch out on the rocks and the ocean comes pouring in. It's really an awesome experience and a nice place to be on a hot day.
If you feel like taking the hand of the one you love for a leisurely hike, be sure to hit the Cape Perpetua Scenic Area. The lush 2,700 acre area boasts 23 miles of trails through seashore and forest settings. A great photo opportunity is taking the trail that leads you to the Giant Spruce Tree that is over 500 years old and quite a sight to see. For a day of golf, you can take your clubs to the Crestview Hills Golf Course and shoot the 9-holes to your heart's content.
The city has a great skate park for all the kids to enjoy, antique shops for Mom and fresh air and sun for Dad. With the typical Oregon Coast fare of fresh seafood and welcoming locals, Waldport, Oregon is a great place to stick around for a good, long while.
